Sustainability
At Lacadivas, sustainability is at the heart of everything we create.
We turn recycled materials into luxurious swimwear, using premium sustainable fabrics, including ECONYL® regenerated nylon, carefully chosen for their quality and lower impact on the planet. Each piece is handmade in our small atelier in Portugal, with great attention to detail, conscious craftsmanship, and deep respect for our planet.
We believe in responsible fashion where elegance, quality, and sustainability come together, so every woman feels confident, powerful, and truly a diva when wearing Lacadivas.
We use ECONYL® a fabric made of regenerated nylon, helping to turn trash into amazing high quality swimwear. ECONYL® fibre is created from unwanted waste from oceans and landfill around the world such as fishing nets, fabric scraps and industrial plastics. Using a radical regeneration process the nylon is brought back to its original purity and can be used to produce new products. Our ECONYL® yarn is sourced from Italy, where it is evaluated as a high quality, durable and sustainable techno-fibre.
As well as being an solution on waste , the regenerated nylon is also better when it comes to climate change. It reduces the global warming impact of nylon by up 80% compared with the regular material from oil.
What about the future? ECONYL® fibre is 100% recycled and 100% recyclable when alone. When it comes to swimwear, ECONYL® fibre is mixed with Elastane as the fabric needs some stretch. Our fabric is 85% ECONYL® fibre and 15% Elastane what means that for now, due to the mix fibers, the fabric isn't recyclable. Our goal is to turn our pieces 100% recyclable and alongside our manufacturer we are working towards a circular production. The end goal is to be able to take back your used Conscious pieces and recycle them it into amazing new pieces. The technology is still in development and we will let you know when this vision becomes a reality.
For our clothing line, we prioritize organic and recycled natural materials including certified organic cotton and recycled wool. These natural fibers offer breathability and comfort while minimizing environmental impact through responsible farming practices and giving new life to existing materials.
Every piece you find here is born from my own hands in my small studio in Lisbon. With years of dedication to swimwear, I personally oversee every step of the process—from the first cut to the final stitch. Creating artisanally allows me to ensure zero waste and give every detail the attention it deserves. For me, this is more than just manufacturing; it’s a commitment to quality and to slow, ethical fashion made with soul.
I am as vigilant about my packaging as I am about the pieces themselves. Every material is carefully researched and sourced to ensure it is as sustainable as possible, without ever using more than what is strictly necessary.
My boxes are kept to a minimal size and are both recycled and recyclable. Instead of using tape, I’ve designed the packaging to be secure without it. My labels are also recycled and recyclable, and my cards are made from 100% post-consumer waste.
The bags I use are fully sustainable, featuring unique drawstrings handcrafted from leftover lycra scraps from my production. There is absolutely no plastic involved in the process, ensuring that your piece arrives in a way that respects the environment.
We Are Proud!
We are proud to support and work with organizations and companies like HEALTHY SEAS and AQUAFIL (producer of ECONYL® regenerated nylon). Their mission is to save the oceans and our planet, while providing recycled materials.
Since our founding in 2013, Healthy Seas has collected 905 tons of waste nets and other marine litter and ensured
they become a valuable resource instead of ending up in a landfill or in the natural environment.
You have the power to save marine life.
